Shakin' The Blues Away

Saturday, October 17, 2009 • 7:30 p.m.
First Unitarian Society of Madison Auditorium
900 University Bay Drive, Madison

In troubling times, there often seems to be just one thing to do.  Ignore it.

In keeping with this sage advice, we present this concert of unabashedly happy music.  From joyful sacred pieces to exuberant popular standards we offer the most cheerful concert around!  Pieces include Mozart's Regina Coeli, Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, works by Gerald Finzi, as well as depression busting songs of the 30s and 40s.  Click here for more details!

Stories To Share

Special Guests: Jim Fleming &
Vicki Nonn

Saturday, December 12, 2009 • 3:00 p.m. and 7:30pm
First Baptist church
518 N Franklin Ave., Madison

The holidays just wouldn't be the same without the music that brings the season to life. This year, the Festival Choir offers stories in song to kick off the holiday season right.

We hear the narratives that shaped our traditions and enriched our lives: Songs of the Nativity and Chanukah as well as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and more!

Joining us to read some timely tales will be guest storytellers, Jim Fleming and Vicki Nonn.  A concert and storytime rolled into one - something the whole family will enjoy!

Please note that this concert will be sung twice on the same day, once in the afternoon and once in the evening.  Your ticket will get you into either of these performances.

They just don't write songs like that anymore! Our journey down America's most musical street includes the wonderful tunes of George Gershwin and cole Porter, as well as other Tin Pan Alley greats as we look at the timeless classics penned by America's songsmiths.

Begin the Beguine, Fascinatin' Rhythm, Night and Day and much more.  It's an evening of beguiling melodies and swinging choral arrangements that you won't want to miss.
